First Aid at Work - 3 day

Who is it for?
This course is for trainees who require a First Aid at Work (FAW) certificate to comply with Health and Safety Executive requirements.

Course Content:
  • The role of the first aider
  • Managing the risks of cross infection
  • Recording of incidents and accidents
  • Assessing the situation in an emergency
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who;
    • is unconscious (including seizures)
    • requires cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR.) is choking
    • is wounded or bleeding
    • is in shock
    • has minor conditions - to include: minor cuts, grazes and bruises, minor burns and scalds, small splinters
  • Administer first aid to a casualty with;
    • injuries to bones, muscles, joints including sus- pected spinal injury
    • sudden poisoning
    • burns and scalds
    • eye injuries & anaphylactic shock
    • Recognise the presence of major illness, such as heart attack, stroke, epilepsy, asthma and diabetes, and provide appropriate first aid
Assessment:
Trainees must attend all training sessions and be successful in the continuous practical assessment by the Trainer. There is also a multi choice exam paper to sit.

Upon successful completion of the training sessions, trainees will receive a First Aid at Work (FAW) certifi- cate that is valid for 3 years.

This certification is a National Certificate awarded by Ofqual and approved by HABC.

Please note there is an additional £17.50 charge for certification and examination fee
